Goodbye Sears — hello Nordstrom! The Seattle-based luxury department store recently announced it will be setting up shop in the Eaton Centre’s Yonge and Dundas location with a grand opening planned for the fall of 2016.

The new three-storey Nordstrom store will cover about 213,000 sq. ft., said a spokesperson for Cadillac Fairview, for the Toronto Eaton Centre — a smaller location than the current five-storey space occupied by by Sears.

Construction on the new Nordstrom Toronto location is set to begin this March and the high-end retailer is planning additional GTA locations (Yorkdale and Sherway Gardens for starters, scheduled for the fall of 2016), with other spots opening up in Ottawa, British Columbia and Calgary — in fact, the first Nordstrom is opening in Calgary this fall.

The Nordstrom website says it all — “Hello, Canada! — we can’t wait to meet you!
